Galena Cross (Ginger Terry)

Ginger is an incredible mosaic artist from Arkansas. She doesn't have a website, but she promised she'll send photos of her work to include in the Rock Star Gallery. Yesterday, she sent a photo of a piece she recently completed using pieces of Galena which she got from Mosaic Rocks. Here's what she said:
"This is a piece I did for a friend. Absolutely I will use galena every time I get half a chance! Everybody who’s seen this loves the look of lead sulfide! It’s wonderful how well the smalti and galena crystals work together."
Unfortunately, our Galena is out of stock - but we hope to get more next week.

Speaking of Galena - one of the most beautiful historic towns in the US is Galena, Illinois. It's in the northwestern tip of the state near the Mississippi River. It got its name from the lead mines which were once in the area. I haven't been there in over 15 years, so I'm not sure what it's like today - but it used to feel like you were stepping back into the mid 19th century. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
